In this workshop you will learn the basics of making filigree and will then move on to making exquisite Middle Eastern style filigree coils and flowers.  We will make 3 different projects

We will also learn the basics of making a filigree ball
 Topics and demonstrations will include; preparation of fine silver filigree wire, construction of flower frames, filigree soldering, traditional filigree wire shapes, making a filigree bail, making soldering with both powder and paste solder.

This is an interactive workshop.  Milt will be doing  live demos.  After each demo you will have time to do the exercises in your studio while Milt watches you and gives you pointers and feedback on your work.
Incorporating corrugated filigree elements into your filigree designs is a great way to enhance your designs and differentiate yourself as a filigree artist.
In this workshop you will:
  • Learn about specialty tools for corrugating your filigree wire including how to make a simple Corrugation tool.
  • Learn how to make corrugated (Zig Zag) filigree wire
  • Learn  how to incorporate corrugated filigree wire into your filigree designs
  • See demonstrations on how to use corrugated filigree wire in three different types of designs using both coiled corrugated filigree wire and straight corrugated filigree wire

In this interactive workshop you will be introduced to techniques for making hinged filigree cuff bracelets and we will work together to create a hinged filigree cuff.  You will learn the basics of filigree cuff design so that you can design and fabricate your own filigree cuffs.
 
Techniques that you will learn include
  • Design basics for making hinged filigree cuffs
  • How to make filigree style hinges, using techniques that apply to regular tube hinges as well, including making knuckle style hinges and hinge pins and riveting the hinge pins.
  • Correct types of filigree wire, and frame wire to use to make hinged cuffs
  • How to incorporate faceted gemstones and cabochon stones into your cuff designs
  • An overview applying these skills to non hinged filigree cuff bracelets
